Position: Senior Counsel

B&W Pantex seeks an Attorney to support operations at the Pantex Plant, located 17 miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas, in Carson County. B&W Pantex manages the Plant for the U. S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration.

Job Duties:

Provides specialized proactive and strategic legal services related to the Plant and its business in environmental, health, safety, labor and employment law, Federal and commercial contracts, federal procurement regulations, and other areas of regulatory law.  Provides legal advice on environmental and safety enforcement matters involving CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, CWA, SDWA and CAA.  Represents the Company at administrative hearings (unemployment compensation hearings, FLSA, discipline issues). Responsible for managing assigned litigation matters through use of outside counsel, as appropriate. Provides outside counsel with required guidance, documents, support and records necessary for the litigation process. Interprets statutes, regulations and agency guidance and recommends course of action, to assure the Plant operates its facilities in compliance with those applicable requirements. Participates in the assessment, resolution and negotiation of remedies associated with environmental remediation work. Provides general legal oversight and review for audits. Develops or assists in the development of action plans to address any issues related to the areas of law assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of and ability to conduct legal research via a computer-generated database involving a broad range of specialized environmental law issues; knowledge of RCRA, SWA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and other areas of regulatory laws and regulations; ability to provide counsel in the areas of environmental law, labor and employment law, contracts (particularly government contracts), federal procurement regulations and other areas of regulatory law; ability to plan and conduct legal assignments independently and effectively meet deadlines; ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data; ability to represent the Plant in matters involving environmental and other issues and provide management legal advice with respect to the areas of practice assigned; and demonstrated ability to perform complex legal duties involving legal research and the preparation of written briefs. Must be capable of performing a wide range of legal research through computer based systems and the Internet.

Education & Experience:

JD degree and licensed in a State of the United States and eligible to obtain Bar Admittance in Texas, with at least 10-15 years experience encompassing environmental law, labor and employment law, government contracts, federal procurement regulations, and other regulatory areas.

Argonne National Laboratory, General Counsel Position

Position

Based in Schenectady, New York and reporting to the President of KAPL, with a matrix reporting relationship to the LMC Vice President and General Counsel, Information Systems & Global Services, this position is responsible for all legal matters at KAPL. This includes serving as the key legal advisor to the President and management team.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing advice on all aspects of legal issues affecting KAPL operations, including:
