Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation’s largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. H2C is seeking a Deputy Chief Compliance Officer to support the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer to manage and execute policies and procedures which govern an organizations compliance program. The successful candidate will have the ability to analyze and apply complicated legal/regulatory/contractual requirements and apply them to operations with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, maintain flexibility in fast-paced environment, and meet or exceed deadlines. Must be able to write and speak in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitor and test policies and procedures to ensure they can result in compliance
Monitor the performance of the compliance program, carry out risk assessments and compliance reviews to ensure policies and procedures are being followed
Liaise with DOE and other external organizations, as directed, on compliance-related issues
Work closely with internal organizations who also have compliance responsibilities
Ensure that the organization complies with existing and developing contract, federal, and state laws and regulations
Reinforce the tone of compliance throughout the organization
Recommend the initiation of investigative procedures in response to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct
Carry out periodic evaluation of the compliance programs and make appropriate changes and improvements to ensure a best-in-class compliance program
Develop, either alone or with other compliance organizations, effective corrective actions to compliance issues and identify improvement opportunities
Work closely with the affected organizations to ensure effective implementation of corrective actions or improvement opportunities
Interact directly with senior leadership on compliance matters
Interact with the Board of Managers, when the Chief Compliance Officer is unavailable
Provide education and training to the company on compliance matters
