Sandia National Labs / NTESS, LLC
Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) is seeking a talented and team-oriented attorney to provide legal advice to management and staff on a variety of legal issues, with a focus on federal procurement, regulatory compliance, construction, and real estate.
As in-house counsel to National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLC (NTESS), which operates Sandia for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), you will offer practical legal and business solutions to support Sandia’s mission and cutting-edge programs.
You may also gain exposure to and mentorship in additional legal areas, including privacy law, data security, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), internal and external audits, and Environmental Health & Safety. Experience or interest in Environmental Health & Safety law, corporate governance, taxation, or privacy law is a plus but not required.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Provide clear, timely, and actionable legal advice to executive leadership and staff.
- Collaborate with supply chain professionals to negotiate subcontract terms and resolve administration issues.
- Develop solutions to complex legal and compliance problems under federal regulations, the NNSA-NTESS contract, and NTESS corporate procedures.
- Research and respond to legal questions related to a government-owned, contractor-operated laboratory.
- Advise on scientific and infrastructure projects.
- Provide proactive legal counsel to mitigate legal liability.
- Support compliance with statutory, administrative, and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver risk analyses to support risk-informed decision-making.
You must be willing to take on new areas of law and other duties as assigned. The selected applicant must be able to work independently and adapt to evolving business needs.
The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary and is expected to work on-site a minimum of 2-3 days/week.
